GETTING HERE

San Agustín has the reputation of being a town that is not easy to reach, although it is not that true as it is possible to get there by land or air through different access points.

Here are the most popular routes, but if you just don't want to worry about it, we can arrange transport for you and your group in comfortable vehicles from anywhere in Colombia.

Our Finca is less than 10 minutes by taxi from the centre of San Agustin, on the road that goes to the Archaeological Park. Usually, a taxi will charge $7,000 for the ride and any driver that you ask will know where "El Maco" is.

If you prefer, we can book a taxi to pick you up in town, just let us know that you need it when you make your booking or when you arrive in San Agustin.

We are next to a small, partially paved country road on a hill, isolated from the noise of the town in a very quiet place in the middle of nature.

On this map you can see the route from Bogotá to San Agustín (530 km - approx. 10 hours), as well as the location of other destinations in the region (Desierto de la Tatacoa, Popayán, Silvia, Tierradentro - this is the unmarked point between Silvia and Garzón).

From Pitalito

Pitalito has the closest airport to San Agustín (only 30 km away - about 50 minutes), which is connected with several weekly frequencies from Bogotá with SATENA.

The bus companies with most frequencies to Pitalito are Coomotor, Cootranshuila, Taxis Verdes or Cootranslaboyana.

It is possible to take a direct transport to San Agustín from the Terminal (bus station) in Pitalito. They are usually vans or cars, leaving one or two per hour depending on the number of passengers, and normally operate from 5:00 to 21:00.

From Neiva

You can arrive at Neiva airport which has connections to several destinations in Colombia with Avianca and Easy Fly.

From the Neiva bus terminal, you can take a bus. There are few buses that go directly to San Agustín, but you will find a good range of frequencies and vehicles travelling to Pitalito.

From Neiva to Pitalito is about 200 km, which takes about 4 hours.

From Popayán

You can arrive at Popayán airport which has connections to several destinations in Colombia with Avianca and Easy Fly.

From the terminal you can take a bus to San Agustín. Generally there are passenger vans and small buses that once you pass the town of Isnos, very close to San Agustín, they leave you at "el cruce", where another vehicle picks you up (the drivers will take care of it) to complete the route. This happens because the main route is Popayán - Pitalito, and "el cruce" is the division of the route that goes to Pitalito or diverts to San Agustín. The vehicle in which you start your journey continues on the main route, while another picks up passengers taking the detour. You will be charged for the entire route at the Popayán Terminal (you don't have to pay anything when going on the second vehicle).

From Popayán to "el cruce" is about 120 km, which takes about 4 hours. You will pass through the Puracé National Park, climbing to almost 4.000 m.a.s.l. on an unpaved road for a little more than 2 hours, so be prepared for an uncomfortable ride (wear warm clothes), but you will surely enjoy the impressive páramo landscapes. From "el cruce" to San Agustín, it's less than 15 minutes.

From Popayán you can connect to other destinations such as Cali (3 hours), Armenia (5.5 hours), Medellín (9 hours) or Pasto (6 hours).

From Florencia

You can arrive at Florencia airport which has connections to several destinations in Colombia with SATENA and EasyFly.

From the Terminal you can take a bus to Pitalito, which is about 110 km away. It will take you about 3 hours to get there.

Tatacoa Desert

In the Tatacoa Desert you will find a tropical dry forest on the banks of the Magdalena River that offers a spectacular landscape where one part is gray and the other ocher, in what in prehistoric times was a humid jungle. It is also an ideal place to observe the stars or to do a mountain bike circuit.
